A word from the Artist — Hendricks County, Indiana is where I’ve spent most of my life. I have enjoyed the corn, soy, and wheat fields as I drive throughout the county. I love the small creeks and grazing animals with the tall trees that were planted a long time ago. I love to paint the old barns that are quickly disappearing from our view. They have so much character as well as a strong presence that tells a story of their own. I have completed many barn paintings because I love to study them. As a Hoosier, I was very appreciative of the opportunity to have three of my oil paintings accepted into the 2013 Indiana University Press publication, Painting Indiana III-Heritage of Place, which was a collaboration between the Indiana Plein Air Association and the Indiana Landmarks Foundation. These paintings depicted historical settings that were important to my personal life as well as intriguing structures that needed to be uplifted in oil for all to enjoy.
Areas of Indiana that I have enjoyed painting outside of Hendricks County have been as follows: Madison, Indianapolis, New Harmony, Nashville, Spencer, Salem, Eagle Creek, Turkey Run, McCormick’s Creek, Indiana Dunes National Park, Zionsville,Richmond, Jasper,Lebanon, Bloomington, French Lick, Falls of the Ohio, and Lake Monroe. Additionally, I frequently travel to other favorite locations to see the beauty our world has to offer the plein air artist.
