17 Sep Free Vision Screening Provided by the Plainfield Lions Club
On September 12, members of the Plainfield Lions Club hosted a free vision screening at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library.
This vision screening are conducted in conjunction with Operation KidSight. Operation KidSight is a non-verbal, preschool age vision screening program sponsored by the Lions of Indiana, under the oversight of the Indiana Lions Eye Bank, Inc.
Only an eye doctor can diagnose and treat a vision problem, but these screenings by Lion volunteers can help identify those children that need to see an eye care provider for a full eye exam. These screenings can help detect “lazy eye” and other conditions such as astigmatism. If not detected early, a child’s vision may deteriorate to the point of irreversible blindness. No physical contact is made with the children and no eye drops or medications are used. The information obtained from these screenings is preliminary only, and does not constitute a formal eye exam. Not all vision problems will be detected by this vision screening process.
The Plainfield Lions Club will be hosting another vision screening at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
