08 May To School We GO!
Summer Reading Club is 1.) very fun, 2.) a good way to prevent summer slide, and 3.) almost here!
Staff starts planning for the next summer right after the big completion party of the year before. Shifting gears from theme to theme; from Library Rocks to A Universe of Stories. Then, gathering supplies, booking speakers and entertainers, ordering tshirts, bookmarks, and prizes, and planning programs in time to be included in the Library Guide.
In the Children’s Room, May means last minute planning and school visits. They’re so fun for us (and hopefully for the kids!) It’s such a pleasure to go visit the kids by class or grade and get them fired up about Summer Reading and all the things going on at the library! We bring bookmarks for everyone. Then we give them a quick pep talk about the parties, reading logs, tshirts, movies, raffle tickets for prizes, and programs.
Summer reading at the library is for all ages, from babies to elders. You can sign up already!
