19 Apr April Silent Auction
The April silent auction of the Friends of the Plainfield Library (FOL) has new offerings for you to browse. There are several “vintage” books including Good-bye Mr. Chips and Other Stories (copyright 1934 and 1938) and James A. Michener’s Sayonara (copyright 1953, 1954) and Hawaii (copyright 1959). For Gone with the Wind fans, the auction has author Margaret Mitchell’s Lost Laysen. She wrote the novella when she was 16, well before Gone with the Wind. The draft was discovered 45 years after her death and published 80 years after it was written.
Along with the vintage items, we have books about Fords, Jeeps, a Dutch girl, a cowboy princess and more. The auction is possible thanks to generous donations by our supporters. Plan to stop by the library lobby display case in April to see what might interest you!
