14 Mar Human Library Event at PGTPL
The Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library is partnering with the Human Library organization, the Hendricks County Alliance for Diversity, Hendricks County Pride, and the Hendricks County Community Foundation to host the Human Library event on Saturday, April 8 from 1-3p. Participants can drop in for a twenty-minute conversation with one of our human “books”, who will share their story as a person with a disability, as a minority, or another unique life experience.
The Human Library Organization is an international group whose mission is to provide a safe framework for personal conversations that can help challenge prejudice, rid discrimination, and bring communities together. Community members can come to have a one-on-one conversation with our human “books”. The human “books” are local community members who are willing to share their perspectives and unique life experience, which is the published “book” they present. Conversations last 20-30 minutes and will be held in our gallery and upstairs meeting rooms. There will be suggested questions or talking points for each table to help spark conversation, but participants are welcome to ask their own questions.
This event is made possible through generous funding from the Hendricks County Community Foundation.
