02 Jun Make It: Fantasy Maps
Do you love to make up stories about new places? Learn how to draw a map based on an imaginary world.
Supplies you’ll need
Blank map templates [download and print here]
Pencils or pens
Colored pencils, markers, or crayons
Method
First, download and print one or more of the templates and assemble your supplies.
Next, it’s time to think about what you want to create. Decide what your fantasy land will be called. Where are the cities? Mountains? Are there special magical features, like a griffin’s eyrie or a wizard’s castle? Do people live in towns and villages, or are they travelers who follow specific roads?
Once you’ve decided what you want to include, sketch them in, then color your map as you choose. Add labels for any special features you want.
Other ideas
For an extra magical effect, you could use metallic sharpies or paint for certain areas. Remember, you can draw the magical inhabitants of your fantasy land by their homes too!
