Action Song: Oh, Before I Eat My Meals

(Tune: If You’re Happy and You Know It)

Oh, before I eat my meals I wash my hands (scrub, scrub)

Oh, before I eat my meals I wash my hands (scrub, scrub)

Oh, it’s very smart I think,

Sending those germs right down the sink,

Oh, before I eat my meals I wash my hands (scrub, scrub).

Oh, before I eat my meals I set my place (set, set)

Oh, before I eat my meals I set my place (set, set)

I set everything I need,

I feel very proud indeed,

Oh, before I eat my meals I set my place (set, set).

Oh, before I eat my meals I pass the food (pass the plate)

Oh, before I eat my meals I pass the food (pass the plate)

‘Cause we know it’s only fair

For us all to have our share

Oh, before I eat my meals I pass the food (pass the plate).

Fingerplay: 5 Little Apples

Five little apples lying on the floor.

I’ll roll one away, and that leaves four.

Four little apples hanging on a tree.

I’ll pick one off, and that leaves three.

Three little apples, I know what to do!

I’ll put one in my pocket, and that leaves two.

Two little apples sitting in the sun.

I’ll pick one up, and that leaves one.

One little apple waiting in my lunch.

I’ll eat it up with a crunch, crunch, crunch!

Song: On Top of Spaghetti

(Tune: On Top of Old Smokey)

On top of spaghetti,

All covered with cheese,

I lost my poor meatball

When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table

And onto the floor,

And then my poor meatball

Rolled right out the door!

It rolled in a garden

And under a bush

Now my poor meatball

Was nothing but mush

The mush was as tasty

As tasty could be

Early next summer

It grew into a tree

The tree was all covered

With beautiful moss

It grew lovely meatballs

In a tomato sauce

So if you like spaghetti

All covered with cheese

Hold on to your meatballs

And DON’T EVER SNEEZE!

A-A-A-CHOO!

Play and more

Continue your storytime with kitchen play or cook a meal together! Ask questions as you go to build early literacy skills, such as: What letter does ‘cookie’ start with? What color is the cheese? What shape is the orange? How many plates are there? Can you stir the spoon in the bowl?
