17 Nov Teen Craft: Accordion Book
An accordion book is an easy craft you can create with just a few supplies! Use it for journaling, writing a short story, or collecting sketches for future art projects.
For this craft, you will need cardstock, cardboard, color paper, scissors, glue, and a ruler.
Step 1
Gather all your materials. Lay out two sheets of cardstock.
Step 2
Cut each piece of cardstock in half vertically. If needed, you can fold the sheets in half hotdog style and then cut on the fold. You have four strips of cardstock at the end of this step.
Step 3
Take a strip of cardstock and fold in half vertically. Then take one end and fold it up towards the first fold you made. Next, flip the strip over and fold the other end towards the first fold. Your strip of paper should now look like the letter W. Repeat this step with each strip of cardstock.
Step 4
Now you must glue your folded strips of cardstock to make an accordion. Make sure that your folds line up in a continuous up and down before you glue the strips together. It should look like a long M or W. You can write or draw on your paper at this step or wait until your book is completed.
Step 5
Cut out two pieces of cardboard that measure 3″ by 4.5″ and glue them to slightly larger pieces of color paper. The paper you should be thinner than cardboard or cardstock.
Step 6
Trim the edges of the color paper glued to your cardboard.
Step 7
Fold the edges of your color paper over the cardboard and glue them in place.
Step 8
The last step to making your own accordion book is to glue the cardstock to the cardboard pieces. Try to make them place them even on both pieces of cardboard. Once you are done, you can use your book in any way imaginable!
