What is STEAM?

STEAM has become a very popular method of teaching and learning for kids. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. STEAM learning enhances “critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills” (Team Bricks 4 Kidz).

While you might see STEAM and STEM used interchangeably, the addition of the “A” in STEAM stands for art. According to Team Bricks 4 Kids, this addition is important because it adds the focus on kids being creative and thinking outside of the box. At PGTPL, we include STEAM elements in many of our programs, including storytime and school age programs. Even babies can try new experiences and learn about the world around them!
