28 Jan Ticket to Ride: New York review
The Ticket to Ride franchise comes to the Big Apple with Ticket to Ride: New York.
The train cars of the original version have been replaced by taxi cabs. The map, route lengths and – consequently the playing time – have been scaled down too. For me, this is a positive feature! While I enjoy many of the Ticket to Ride versions (you can see a list of what the library has here), sometimes I’m not particularly keen to spend 60-90 minutes playing it. Ticket to Ride: New York consistently clocks in around 15-20 minutes, which makes it a great choice for an opening act on Family Game Night. You’ll still still have plenty of choices to make about claiming routes, collecting sets of cards and in this version, you will also need to consider the value of connecting to specially marked tourist attractions, which will gain you extra points but might be outside your chosen path between destinations.
If you enjoy this game, be sure to check out the other Ticket to Ride games or other games about New York City!
